Sensex opens weak by 101.72 pts


Mumbai: Snapping a winning streak of last four sessions, the benchmark index of Bombay Stock Exchange (BSE) slipped today by 101.72 points at 31,935.66 in opening trade on profit booking by local operators. The National Stock Exchange (NSE) eased by 30.40 points to 9,861.30. In sectoral indices Materials, FMCG, IT and Utilities were seen weak while Energy, Health Care and Telecom remained firm that capped from further loss, traders informed. The losers were TCS by 2.11 pc to Rs 2392.60, Tata MotorsDVR by 1.23 pc to Rs 272.40, Tata Motors by 0.94 pc to Rs 454.10 and HDFC by 0.88 pc to Rs 1641.70. The gainers were Cipla by 1.15 pc to Rs 548.40, Kotak Bank by 1.08 pc to Rs 971.85, Sun Pharma by 0.95 pc to Rs 574.75 and Bharti Airtel by 0.92 pc to Rs 406.65.
