Allahabad : Bahujan Samaj Party national president Mayawati would address her third mega divisional level rally here on September 4. She would be accompanied by top party leaders in the meet to be organised to establish contact with its core vote banks of Maurya, Shakya, Saini and Kushwaha. The rally would be held at the Parade grounds near Sangam. The move comes close on the heels of similar rallies held by Prime Minister Narendra Modi, Bharatiya Janata Party national president Amit Shah, chief minister Akhilesh Yadav and Janata Dal (United) president Nitish Kumar in the past three months. The rally is also expected to mobilise Maurya voters after party leader Swami Prasad Maurya joined BJP. Maurya belonged to neighboring Pratapgarh district. UP BJP president Keshav Prasad Maurya too belongs to Allahabad and is presently MP from Phoolpur seat.
BSP officials here today claimed around five lakh party workers from four districts, including Allahabad, Kaushambi and Pratapgarh of Allahabad division, would be attending the meeting. Sector presidents here claimed that recent attacks on Dalits across the country would dominate the issues that Mayawati would address in the rally. Office-bearers at booth level of each of the four districts have been instructed to ensure a crowd of around five lakh in the rally, said the officials. Door-to-door campaigns have already been started in villages dominated by Maurya, Shakya, Saini, Kushwaha in all the four districts. Before the Allahabad rally, Ms Mayawati will be addressing a similar rally in Azamgarh, the parliamentary constituency of SP president Mulayam Singh Yadav. The first rally was held in Agra on August 21 but on the next day the party received a set back when its senior leader and a Brahmin face Brajesh Pathak joined the BJP.
