BJP workers court arrest protesting against Rayareddi remarks on PM

Koppal, Karnataka : Protesting against Karnataka Minister Basavaraja Rayareddi for his statement against Prime Minister Narendra Modi over removing of red beacons on VIP vehicles, about 30 BJP workers including local Lok Sabha member Karadi Sanganna were detained by the police today. The protesting BJP men were taken away in vehicles by the police when they raised slogans against the Higher Education Minister. The protesters alleged that Mr Reddi had used 'indecent' words against Mr Modi. They shouted slogans against the Minister, the Siddaramaiah government and demanded their resignation of the minister . Police said that they taken more than 30 BJP workers into custody and they were released later after they tried to stall the Minister's press meet organised at the Inspection Bunglow here. Mr Rayareddi objecting to the union government's move to remove red beacons on VIP vehicles, had made some statement yesterday that disturbed the BJP men. This created a controversy and led to widespread protests by the BJP workers in the state. Meanwhile, at the press meet, Mr Rayareddi denied that he had made such a statement and he was misquoted by the media. He said, ''I have a lot of respect to the Prime Minister Modi, I meant to state that security was needed for people in power against unanticipated events that may cause threat to their lives.''
