Bickering in first family of SP again surfaced during launch of membership drive

Lucknow: Bickering within the Samajwadi Party family was witnessed again during the launch of the membership drive of the party here today. Party president Akhilesh Yadav launched the membership drive in the absence of party founder and patron Mulayam Singh Yadav and his uncle Shivpal Singh Yadav besides other family members who are in politics. Though several posters of Mr Mulayam Singh Yadav pasted inside the SP state headquarters during the launch of membership drive, there was no photo of Mr Shivpal Singh Yadav. First time, selfie points were also erected with separate photos of Mulayam, Akhilesh and Dimple along with a group photos of Mulayam, Azam Khan and Naresh Uttam. Sources said Mr Mulayam was in Lucknow and was invited for the programme but he did not come. While there was no such invitation given to Mr Shivpal, who is the party MLA from Jaswantnagar seat in Etawah. During the membership drive, other family members of the first family were not seen except for the Akhilesh and his wife Dimple. Aparna Yadav, Akhilesh's sister-in-law, who contested from Lucknow Cantonment assembly seat and Anurag Yadav, cousin of the SP president, who contested from Sarojni Nagar assembly seat in the state capital were not present in the function. Both had lost the elections. Senior SP leader Mohammad Azam Khan too did not participate in the function along with other leaders such as party's vice-president Kironmoy Nanda, general secretary Naresh Agarwal and Beni Prasad Verma.
