Assam Rifles officer martyrs, guns down 3 underground cadres in Nagaland


Kohima:  The troops of Assam rifles gunned down three suspected underground cadres on Tizit- Oting road in Mon district of Nagaland this morning and one Assam Rifles officer was martyred, when Assam Rifles had a gun battle with a group of gunmen, which was still continuing. Assam Rifles sources said that based on specific information an operation was conducted on Tizit- Oting road and in the ensuing gun battle one Assam Rifles officer and three underground cadres were killed. Based on a specific input of movement of joint group of Underground militants, an operation was launched on the wee hours this morning in Tizit -Oting road Mon District of Nagaland. The operation was launched by Security Forces under Headquarters Inspector General of Assam Rifles (North). It also informed that three terrorists were also killed during the encounter, whose bodies were recovered by Assam Rifles and three AK series of weapon with large amount of ammunition, IED and other war like stores was recovered. Assam Rifles sources said that details are still awaited as the operation and firing between the suspected underground cadres was still continuing. About the underground group, sources said it was not yet confirm, but suspected to be a joint group of some outfits, but it is yet to confirm, however, details are awaited.
