Army sends 18 Kashmir valley girls on an educational tour

As many as 18 girl students and two female teachers of a remote village in the border district of Kargil have been sent on an 11-day educational tour by the Army to visit various parts of the country.

Defence Ministry Colonel N N Joshi said the educational tour, under “Operation Sadbhavana” comprising students and teachers from remote and far-flung village of Darchiks near Batalik was flagged off yesterday by Commander Tiger Hill Brigade at a ceremony held in Brigade complex. The students reached here last evening.

The tour aims to expose the young students of the village Darchiks to the rich and diverse cultural heritage, economic growth and secular nature of the country. The children will get an opportunity to visit places of cultural, educational, economic and historical interest in the cities of Srinagar, Jammu, Dharamshala and Chandigarh, he said.
