Hamirpur : A grand reception was accorded to BCCI chief, Anurag Thakur in his home town of Hamirpur today. Led by hundreds of party workers and cricket lovers, Thakur was received by the local people by showering flower petals on him and the kafilla accompanying him from his native village of Samirpur to Hamirpur. It was his first visit to Hamirpur after taking over as the BCCI chief was accorded a rousing reception on his first visit to his home town here. While addressing a civic reception at the Bachat Bhawan, Mr Thakur said as BCCI chief his main endeavor to promote all types of sports in all parts of India and Himachal Pradesh would get its adequate share. The BCCI chief said he would ensure that India cricket achieved top positions in all the formats of games and best among best would be chosen to represent India in various forats of game. He said that whatever he was today that was due to the blessings of the people of India in general and Himachal Pradesh and Hamirpur in particular.
Earlier, he went to the temple of Maan Awahdevi, the kuldevi of Dhumal family and offered prayers there. He also sought blessings from the maan for the family and the Indian people. On his way from Awahdevi to Hamirpur, people greeted him with flowers and congratulated him for securing such a top post in the World cricket.
