Allahabad HC allows UP government to appoint 29,334 TET passed assistant teachers

The Allahabad High Court today gave its nod on the reserved categories youth of the 29,334 TET passed teachers in Uttar Pradesh to be appointed as assistant teachers in the state.

The court in its order said that those TET passed teachers of reserved categories who have obtained 82 or more marks are eligible for the appointment as science and maths teachers.

The order comes in respite for the UP government after the HC quashed the appointment of 1.72 lakh shiksha mitras in the state on Saturday.

The court also approved the UP's government order of June 17 last and has asked them to complete the appointment process.

The order was passed by a division bench comprising Chief Justice DY Chandrachud and Justice Yashwant Verma on several petitions filed in the court. UP government's Primary Education Council had published to appoint 29,334 assistant teachers for science and maths subjects on July 1,2013.

The TET passed teachers who got 60 per cent in general category and 55 per cent in the reserved category were eligible to fill their forms for the post. But later the government fixed 90 per cent TET marks for general category candidates for the appointment and 82 per cent for the reserved category.
