Srinagar: All educational institutions will remain closed today in south Kashmir districts of Kulgam and Shopian, where a youth was killed allegedly in security force firing on the demonstrators, who were trying to disrupt search operation. Officials said that all schools, Higher Secondary Schools (HSS) and colleges in both the districts, apart from private schools, will remain closed today, as a precautionary measure. A youth identified as Adil Farooq Magray was killed, when security forces opened fire to disperse the agitators, who were trying to enter the area, where a search operation against a militant was launched late last evening, official sources said. They said security forces on a tip-off about the presence of militants had launched a search operation at village Ganowpora in Shopian. However, as the news spread about the search operation, people took to the streets raising slogans and trying to march towards the cordoned off area. The security forces opened fire when the demonstrators pelted stones, they said, adding Adil was injured. The injured was rushed to the district hospital, where he was declared brought dead.
