Akhilesh rushes to meet Mulayam in Lko: another effort for reconciliation in SP

Lucknow:  Even as the ruling Samajwadi Party is battling for the party symbol before the Election Commission in New Delhi, politics in Uttar Pradesh once again has gained momentum in the chilly weather as efforts have started for a reconciliation between the two warring groups, led by son Akhilesh Yadav against his father Mulayam Singh Yadav. Mr Mulayam, who met the EC yesterday and placed their points that the meeting, in which Akhilesh was declared the party national president was illegal, today reached here. Surprisingly, Mr Akhilesh has rushed to meet his father, first time after being declared as the national president, in place of Mr Mulayam. Sources said the meeting between the father and the son could be an effort for a compromise after the EC has given enough indication that the party symbol bicycle could be seized. Several leaders, including UP Minister Mohammad Azam Khan, who had rushed to Delhi today, were making all out efforts for a compromise. The outcome of the meeting between Mr Mulayam and Mr Akhilesh was yet to be known. Ram Gopal Yadav, the chanakaya of Akhilesh, had met the EC and placed their points before them, demanding that the election symbol of bicycle be given to them. Now, the ball is in the EC's court, but the sudden meeting between Mr Mulayam and Mr Akhilesh could be another effort of reconciliation.
