7 IPFT workers arrested for alleged attack on BJP leader in Tripura


Agartala: Police arrested as many as seven supporters of Indigenous Peoples’ Front of Twipra (IPFT) last night on the allegation of attacking BJP vice president and tribal leader Rampada Jamatia yesterday at Athorabhola area of Udaipur in South Tripura, which left at least 10 persons injured.
The BJP has held protest rallies against the attack on its leader across the state demanding to ensure peaceful environment in the state and restore democratic atmosphere.
The party however, accused CPI(M) of indulging instigation to violence.
Sub Divisional Police Officer (SDPO) Udaipur Rajendra Datta said that police has made extra deployment to manage the situation.
Allegedly, IPFT cadres attacked his vehicles in the area when he was going to join a political program in the remote localities and he was narrowly escaped from the attack.
