4 civilians injured in cross-border firing on LoC in Poonch, India retaliates

At least four civilians, including three women, got injured as Pakistan resorted to heavy unprovoked firing on Line of Control in Poonch district of Jammu and Kashmir. "Four civilians sustained injuries in firing from across the border," police spokesperson here said. He said the Pakistani Army this morning at around 1055 hrs fired small arms thus violating the truce and later fired mortars in Shahpur Kerni Sector of Poonch, he said. The spokesperson said the firing simultaneously shifted towards Gali Maidan area of Saujiyan. Two people got injured in Saujiyan and two in Shahpur Kerni, he said and added, "the injured have been hospitalised." Pakistan fired small arms and later resorted to mortar shelling, he added. "Own troops retaliated with similar calibre weapons," he said, adding, "exchange of firing is continue." Pakistan last night fired heavily in Pallanwala Sector of Jammu." Around 50,000 people from 45 bordering villages in Akhnoor, Pallanwala and Chhamb sectors have migrated to safer locations besides the relief camps set up by the district administration having all basic facilities.
