New Delhi: Union Minister of State for Minority and Parliamentary Affairs, Mukhtar Abbas Naqvi, today said that the last three years of the Modi Government have been years of “Confidence, Commitment & Character”. Addressing the people at various events during his visit to Rampur, Mr Naqvi said, 'the bold and tough decision of demonetisation to eliminate 'kubers of black money' was an example of confidence of Mr Modi." The surgical strike by India against "terror factory" in Pakistan and the entire world standing with India was an example of Confidence. "The positive change in perception and policy of the entire world towards India is a result of this confidence,' he said. The Minister said that the Modi Government has worked with Commitment for 'happiness in the eyes and prosperity in life' of the poor of the country. 'The Commitment to make first right of poor, weaker sections on resources of the country has ensured their empowerment. The Modi Government removed corruption, the biggest obstacle in the development of the poor,' he added. On corruption, the Minister said, 'creating corruption-free and development-oriented atmosphere is the Character of the Modi Government. Removing middlemen from power corridors; blockade of loot lobby; putting an end to VIP culture; removing the gap between the government and the common man is the change brought by this Government.' He said the Prime Minister has been successful in creating atmosphere of trust and development in the country. 'Credibility and prestige of his post was restored after years and the people have witnessed a decisive, transparent and honest system,' he said. Mr Naqvi said that during the ten years' regime of the Congress-led UPA Government, the Nation witnessed that 'credibility and authority' of the Prime Minister’s post was getting damaged, because of which the country suffered a lot. 'The country has got a strong Prime Minister who can take bold and tough decisions in the interests of villages, farmers, poor, Dalit, youths and women,' he said. The Minister said only a person like the Premier has the courage to take a bold decision like demonetisation which has resulted into an all-out attack against corruption. He also highlighted that the last three years of the Modi Government have been glorious and dedicated to “good-governance, 'Sabka Sath Sabka Vikas', Empowerment without Appeasement”. Lamenting that the Congress Government and its allies failed to work, the Minister hailed the last three years of the Modi Government. Listing the works done for poor during the Modi Government's tenure, the Minister said the Union Government has provided more than 2-crore free domestic LPG connections to the poor families. 'Jan Dhan accounts' of more than 26-crore people have been opened during this time, more than 13-crore poor people have been included in various social security schemes. 'Also, about Rs 50,000-crore of public money has been saved through Direct Benefit Transfer (DBT) which has eliminated the middlemen,' he said. On employment opportunities, Mr Naqvi said 7-crore-45-lakh people have been provided loans worth Rs 3-lakh-cr without guarantee. Out of these, 70 per cent of the beneficiaries were women and also a large number of people belonging to SC/ST and backward classes. More than 2-crore toilets have been constructed in 2016-17 while investment worth Rs 1-lakh-43-thousand-crore has come in the electronics manufacturing sector under “Make in India”, he said. Informing the people about achievements of Ministry of Minority Affairs, Mr Naqvi said three years of the Modi Government were a reflection of an “empowerment without appeasement” policy. 'Our focus was on “3E- Education, Employment & Empowerment”. “Progress Panchayat”, “Less Cash Chaupal”, coordination meetings with the states were important measures. More than 2-lakh women were provided leadership training under “NaiRaushni”. Budget of Minority Affairs Ministry has been increased after about 10 years in 2017-18. It has been increased to Rs 4,195-crore from Rs 3,827.25-crore in 2016-17,' he said. The achievements of Ministry of Minority Affairs also include scholarships worth Rs 4,740-crore to 1-crore-82-lakh students; scholarships worth Rs 166-crore to 1,38, 426 girl students under “Begum Hazrat Mahal Scholarship; more than 5.20-lakh youths, including about 40 per cent women, covered under various job-oriented skill training; establishing 33 degree colleges; 223 multi-purpose “SadbhavMandap” and 18 Gurukul type residential schools in last six years; significant increase in annual Haj quota. Mr Naqvi also talked about “Tehreek-e-Taleem”, campaign for education; organising “Hunar Haat”, to provide market-opportunity to master artisans across the country; establishing “Hunar Hub” in all the states; organising “Usttad Samman Samagam”; establishing 5 international level educational institutes; 100 Navodaya type schools in minority concentrated areas and reviving option of sending Haj pilgrims through sea route also.
