3 siblings attempt suicide with their paralytic mother; 2 die

Korba, Chhattisgarh : Three teenage siblings, including two sisters, attempted suicide by consuming pesticides along with their 55-year-old paralytic mother in this district, police said. Soon after all three siblings jumped into a well in their courtyard to ensure their death. However, the brother was rescued by villagers but two sisters could not be saved. The 24-year-old youth Subham Agrawal and his widow mother Saroj are still struggling for their life at a private hospital in the town. The incident took place last night in Chhuri village about 20 km from the district headquarters. The family which was staying in their uncle's place after the sudden demise of Saroj's husband a decade ago, was under stress for the marriage of the two sisters -- Ranu (26) and Rashmi (25). The three siblings finally decided to end their lives and they consumed pesticides after poisoning their mother, who was bed-ridden for last four years due to a paralytic attack, police added.
