200 take ill after partaking 'prasad'



Agar Malwa :  Nearly 200 people, including 50 children, contracted diarrhoea after consuming ‘sabudana khichdi (sago dish)’ during a religious congregation organised at Devnarayan Temple in Damdam village, police said today. A programme was organised on the occasion of Devchhat at the temple last evening. On the occasion, people were served ‘sabudana khichdi’ as ‘prasad (religious offering)’. However, villagers complained of diarrhoea after partaking the food substance. Chief Medical and Health Officer BS Baria said a team of doctors rushed to the village and began treatment of the affected. The situation is under control, police added.
