1.24 lakh 'shiksha mitras' appointment cancelled by the High Court

The Allahabad High Court has passed its judgement about the 1.4 lakh ad hoc primary school teachers across the state, commonly referred to as 'shiksha mitras'.

The bench headed by Chief Justice D. I. Chandrachoodh have cancelled their adjustments.

HC added that they were appointed for 11 months on ad hoc basis but later were made assistant teachers. It added that the sole right to give these orders were in the hands of the Central Government, not the state.

Out of 1.72 lakh, 1.24 were made assistant teachers while 48,000 were yet to be appointed.
